Three cargo steamers alongside wharves in Castries harbour, St. Lucia, West Indies.
Three cargo steamers alongside wharves in Castries harbour, St. Lucia, West Indies. The photographer is looking north-east-by-east from the forested hill to the south of the town showing an unidentified vessel, seen from off her starboard bow, alongside the nearest wharf on the left Beyond her is the tramp steamer Langleeford (1925) seen from just abaft her starboard beam with just her bow alongside the wharf. She is very lightly laden, her stern is out of the picture and her bow is obscured by a palm frond. An unidentified Charente Steam Shipping Company (Thos. & Jas. Harrison) steamer is berthed ahead of the Langleeford (1925). Moored bow-on to the shore in the distance is an unidentified cable ship whose hull paintwork is in a very poor state and she is probably laid up. The Vigie Peninsula is in the background. A vertical format negative.
