A distant aerial view of Castries town and harbour, St. Lucia, West Indies.
A distant aerial view of the town and harbour at Castries, St. Lucia, West Indies. The photographer is looking north-east-by-north from high ground above trees to the south showing a few small sailing vessels alongside the wharves or at moorings. A roofless warehouse is on the wharf on the left. Moored in the harbour is the Royal Navy sloop Dundee (1932), seen from just abaft her starboard beam, and she has awnings rigged forward and aft. Moored bow-on to the shore to the right of centre is an unidentified cable ship seen from abaft the starboard beam. She is in poor condition and appears to be laid up. The town is in the foreground and the Holy Trinity Anglican Church is on the outskirts of the town on the right of the picture.
