The waterfront at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
The waterfront at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The photographer is looking west-by-south from the waterfront road in the centre of the town showing a passenger cruise ship's motor lifeboat alongside the landing place next to the Cooperative and the Bureau of Information building with its conspicuous tower. Single masted sailing vessels are gathered alongside the wharf in the centre of the picture and the area known as Frenchtown is in the background. Motor cars are in the foreground and the fence along the waterfront is made from inverted muzzle loading cannon barrels and a single row of chain.
