Crowds gathered along the shore at Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies.
Crowds gathered along the shore at Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies. The photographer is on the passenger landing stage looking north-by-west along the waterfront packed with people. A water discharge pipe running out into the harbour has a line of people standing or sitting on it. Single masted fishing boats are drawn up on shore or anchored just offshore in the background. It is almost certain that the people have assembled to welcome some royal visitors to the island but the identity of the visitors and the date are unknown. They may have been travelling on the Canadian Pacific Steamships cruise ship Duchess of Bedford (1928) or Duchess of Richmond (1928) and been escorted by the Royal Navy battleship Malaya (1915).
