One of the oil fuel lighters is being towed by a small steam tug. Anchored in the left background and seen from off her starboard beam is a Cunard Line cruise ship, either the Samaria (1921) or the Laconia (1922). On the right and seen from abaft her starboard beam is a Blue star Line passenger/cargo liner under way bound out. She is one of Almeda Star (1926), Andalucia Star (1927) or Avila Star (1927). Santo Anao Island is in the distance.
