The waterfront at San Juan, Puerto Rico
The waterfront and docks at San Juan, Puerto Rico. The photographer is looking north-north-east from on board a cruise ship in San Juan Bay showing the wharf of the New York & Porto Rico Steamship Co with two West class cargo ships alongside. The ship on the left is unidentified but the one on the right, seen from fine off her port quarter, is the West Cape (1918) registered at San Francisco. In the left background is a 2 masted schooner. In the centre background is a four hold Lykes Line cargo steamer. Beyond the Lykes Line steamer is the Capitol Building completed in 1929 and to the right is the School of Tropical Medicine built in 1926.
