An aerial view of the harbour and town at Santa Cruz de la Palma, Canary Islands.
An aerial view of the harbour and town at Santa Cruz de la Palma, Canary Islands. The photographer is looking north-east-by-east from the summit of the Caldereta showing the harbour and works are in progress to extend the breakwater seawards. The town has been constructed on the lower slopes of the Caldera de Taburiente. At anchor to the east of the breakwater and seen from fine off her port quarter is the Blue Star Line passenger cruise ship Arandora Star (1927). She is in all white livery and her superstructure has been extended to the stern.
