The breakwater and harbour at Santa Cruz de la Palma, Canary Islands
The breakwater and harbour at Santa Cruz de la Palma, Canary Islands. The photographer is looking north from the east wall at the outer end of the breakwater showing a large number of people and motor cars by the passenger landing steps near a crane on the west side of the breakwater. A railway track is in the foreground leading to the civil engineering works which are extending the breakwater further seawards (not in the picture). At the inland end of the breakwater is a building with Obras del Puerto (Port Works Office) and a vehicle speed restriction sign on it. At the harbour side is a garage forecourt with a Shell petrol pump and on the hill above is a large poster panel advertising Goodyear tyres. Town buildings and the wooded slopes of the Caldera de Taburiente are in the background.
