On the left is a brick-built industrial building with a tall brick chimney and to the left of centre is the Hotel Hofslund. The photographer is on board the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) and four of her pulling lifeboats are preparing for a race accompanied by one of her motor tenders. The hill in the background is densely wooded.
