A view from the quayside of the port bows of six yachts moored on the River Tyne during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. The boat moored to the quayside is obscured and only her forward and mizzen masts are visible. The boat moored of its starboard side is the two-masted yacht Mast R Buller where a large number of peopleare in the cockpit. The racing yacht Spirit of Boadicea (1975) is moored outboard of Mast R Buller with the Oyster yacht Rona II (1991) outboard her. A flag for the RONA SAILING PROJECT can be seen attached to a staysail towards the front of the vessel. A group of people can also be seen towards the back of the yacht. Moored to the starboard side of Rona II are two unidentified smaller yachts. The Baltic Flour Mill can be seen across the river on the left hand side of the image. Numerous boats moored on the quayside, the Tyne Bridge and the Royal Naval Reserve shore establishment HMS Calliope is visible on the opposite bank can be seen in the background.
