On board the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928) alongside Berth 34 on the Itchen Quays in Southampton docks, Hampshire. The photographer is on the starboard side of the boat deck at the aft end looking aft showing her two motor lifeboats under davits on the aft promenade deck and she has an Orient Line boarding brow up to this deck. A Stothert & Pitt rail mounted 2 ton crane is being used to lift a cargo net full of passengers' baggage on board. The entrance to the Empress Dock is in the background. A vertical format negative.
