On board the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928) alongside Berth 34 on the Itchen Quays in Southampton docks, Hampshire. The photographer is on the starboard side of the roof of the promenade deck house aft looking forward showing one of her motor lifeboats under davits on the aft promenade deck. Three passengers are at the aft end of the boat deck watching a Stothert & Pitt rail mounted 2 ton crane being used to lift a cargo net full of passengers' baggage on board with two crew waiting for the net to land on deck. A vertical format negative.
