A general view of the Skansekaien at Stavanger, Norway. The photographer is on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) anchored in the outer harbour. A passenger/cargo vessel is alongside the quay in the centre. On the right is the Toldbod building (customs house) between the Skansekaien and Skansegaten and one the the Viceroy of India's lifeboats is heading back to the ship from the quay. Commercial premises with tall brick chimneys are on the left.
