A general view of the east side of the Gamla Stan district of Stockholm, Sweden. The photographer is looking north-by-east from an elevated position close to the shore in Sodermalm showing the clover leaf roads and the Sluss Bridge over the Soderstrom with passenger ferries alongside the Skeppsbrokajen. Many of the passenger vessels have the funnel markings of Stockholms Rederiaktiebolag Svea. The statue of King Karl XIV Johan on horseback is on the Slussplan on the left with various shops and commercial premises, including the Saltsjoqvarns Kejsarkronan building, beyond the statue.
