The Royal Palace on the island of Gamla Stan, Stockholm, Sweden. The photographer is looking south-west from the Sodra Blasieholmskajen showing the passenger ferry Konung Oscar (1875), seen from abaft her port beam, alongside the north end of the Skeppsbrokajen. The steeple of the German Church is on the left and the iron steeple of the Riddarholm Church is on the right. The cupola of the Storkyrkan, officially named Sankt Nikolai kyrka (Church of St. Nicholas) and informally called Stockholms domkyrka (Stockholm Cathedral) can be seen beyond the Royal Palace.
