The photographer is looking west-north-west from the island of Skeppsholmen showing passenger ferries alongside the Skeppsbrokajen, including the Vesterbotten (1876) which is seen from just ahead of her port beam. The clock tower of the Storkyrkan, officially named Sankt Nikolai kyrka and informally called Stockholms domkyrka (cathedral), is on the left. The horizon is not level.
