Gamla Stan island and the swimming pool pontoon, Stockholm, Sweden.
Gamla Stan island, Stockholm, Sweden. The photographer is looking east-by-south from the west side of the Stadshuset in front of the City Hall in Kungsholmen district showing people in the gardens. Carl Eldh's pair of graceful sculptures cast in bronze, The Song and The Dance, which were placed on the balustrade on either side of the landing steps facing lake Mälaren are not in situ. The swimming pool pontoon adjoining the Centralbron is in the left background with the Royal Palace beyond it. Passenger ferries are alongside the Riddarholmshamnen. The iron spire of the Riddarholmen Church is on the right, the spire of the German Church is in the centre with the clock and bell tower of the Storkyrkan to the left. The district of Sodermalm is in the right background.
