On board the Swedish cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) under way transitting the Suez Canal. The photographer is looking forward from the starboard side of the forward end of the upper promenade deck showing lifeboat number 1 with a canvas cover under her davits. The starboard forward samson post is just abaft the forecastle deck which has awning bars rigged over it.
