On board the Swedish cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) under way transitting the Suez Canal. The photographer is looking forward from the port side of the forward end of the upper promenade deck showing lifeboat number 2 with a canvas cover under her davits on the left. The port forward samson post is just abaft the forecastle deck which has awning bars rigged over it. The foremast is on the extreme right of the picture. A small steam vessel is close alongside the Gripsholm's port bow.
