Lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) under tow in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. The Orion (1935) is in the background seen from fine off her starboard bow. the photographer is on board one of the ship's motor lifeboats looking aft showing four of the ship's manual lifeboats being towed in line astern. The manual lifeboats are manned by passengers and each boat is under the supervision of two crew members. All of the oars are tossed. Competitive rowing regattas were commonplace in cruise ships at boating ports and other sheltered moorings. Negatives numbers P84445 to P84462 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
