Manual lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) at the end of a race in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway.

A distant view of two manual lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) at the end of a race in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. The boats are manned by crew members of the ship and the crew of the winning boat have tossed their oars as the second boat crosses the finish line. The bow of a third boat can be seen on the extreme left of the picture. The photographer is on board the ship which is anchored in the fjord. Competitive rowing regattas were commonplace in cruise ships at boating ports and other sheltered moorings. Negatives numbers P84445 to P84462 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
