Three manual lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) setting off for the start of a race in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. The lifeboats are manned by crew members of the ship and are being towed in line astern by one of the ship's motor lifeboats. A fourth manual boat is also in tow but is out of shot. They all have their oars tossed. The photographer is on board the Orion looking down on the boats. A vertical format negative.
