The village and harbour at Thasos on the island of Thasos, Greece.
The village and harbour at Thasos on the island of Thasos, Greece. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Donaldson Line cruise ship Letitia (1925) and is looking west-by-north from high ground to the south of the harbour showing the west end of the harbour. A 2-masted schooner is at moorings on the harbour and the west breakwater has a leading light on the end of it. A wooden boat is being built on shore behind a building in the right foreground. Saint Nicholas Church and clock tower is on the left. The village is backed by high wooded hills and is also known as Limenas, which is Greek for 'port'.
