The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) and is looking east-north-east from the west side of the harbour showing a 2-masted schooner, caiques and open boats. In the foreground a man is sitting in an open boat mending fishing nets and beyond him are two half sunken open boats. The bell tower of the catholic church of St. Nicholas is in the background.
