The harbour at Tinos, on the island of Tinos, Greece.

The harbour at Tinos, on the island of Tinos, Greece. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) and is looking north-east-by-east from the west side of the harbour showing the landing steps and open boats berthed alongside the quay walls. On the landing stage is an arch decorated with tree branches and displaying a banner which reads 'Tinos welcomes the British friends'. Under the banner are three flags. Two half sunken open boats are in the middle of the harbour. Shops line the waterfront, the bell tower of the catholic church of St. Nicholas is in the centre and the Tinos Monastery is at the foot of the hill to the right of centre.
