The harbour at Tinos, on the island of Tinos, Greece.
The harbour at Tinos, on the island of Tinos, Greece. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) and is looking north-east-by-east from the west side of the harbour showing one of the motor lifeboats from the ship coming alongside the quay laden with passengers. Two half sunken open boats are in the middle of the harbour and shops line the waterfront. The bell tower of the catholic church of St. Nicholas is in to the left of centre and the Tinos Monastery is at the foot of the hill in the centre background. The negative has no depth of field and only the foreground is in focus.
