The beach and waterfront at Scarborough, Tobago, West Indies.

The beach and waterfront at Scarborough, Tobago, West Indies. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928). A local woman is sitting on the bulwark of a rowing boat drawn up under the trees and the beach is backed by a dense growth of palm trees and other vegetation. The landing pier is on the extreme right and the single storey Growers Co-operative Association building has a crowd of people in front of it and a number of rowing boats in the water by the pier. Some of the settlement's buildings are scattered amongst the trees on the low hill beyond the landing pier. The negative has no depth of field and only the foreground is in focus. A vertical format negative.
