Tvoroyri and the Trangisvaagsfjordur on the island of Suduroy in the Faroe Islands
Filletted fish laid out to dry on the shore of the Trangisvaagsfjordur in the village of Tvoroyri on the island of Suduroy in the Faroe Islands. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) looking south-east -by-south towards the entrance to the fjord. Local women are piling the fish into stacks which are then covered with canvas and matting. A general cargo steamship is alongside the main quay on the right with fishing vessels on the inland side of the quay.
