A port side view of a Royal Navy Rear-Admiral's steam barge just under way, possibly at Port of Spain,Trinidad.
A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of a Royal Navy Rear-Admiral's steam barge just under way coming alongside, possibly at Port of Spain, Trinidad. There are seven men on deck and an awning is rigged over the stern. The bowmen are holding their boathooks parallel with the hull. The ship's name on the ratings' cap tailles is not quite legible. Hand operated cranes are on the wharf. A building to the right of centre has Custom House on it and a building to the left of centre has 'Vacuum Marine Oils' and 'West India Oil Company' on it. The horizon is not quite level. The negative is captioned Trinidad but the location is not known. If it is Port of Spain one would expect to see wooded hills in the background.
