The photographer is looking north from a boat in Tromso Sund and in the foreground is a stone breakwater which is protecting a number of motor fishing vessels and a steam sealer. The clock tower and steeple of the wooden built Tromso Cathedral (Domkirke), consecrated in 1861, is to the right of centre in the picture.
