Seascape from the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'

A sketch of a rain shower from the deck of the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'. It captures the effects of a sudden cloudburst viewed in the distance. The sea darkens to the left and is bathed in silvery light on the right. The clouds on the left are shown as several washes of flat colour, positioned either horizontally or vertically, to represent the rain. As a contrast, the sky on the far right is bathed in light. Everett sailed in the Greek-owned steamer, 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis', from Cardiff, Wales, to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back between December 1931 and March 1932. The painting is inscribed 'PMH' verso.
