Seascape from the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'
A rapid sketch from the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis' showing the effects of cloud over a moderate swell. Everett has concentrated on form, shape and colour to convey his effect. The sea is painted as a series of short brush strokes of coloured blue tones. The sky is streaked with tones of lilac and blue at the horizon. The main mass of cloud is painted as a carefully scalloped pattern. Everett sailed in the Greek-owned steamer, 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis', from Cardiff, Wales, to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back between December 1931 and March 1932. The painting is inscribed 'PMH' verso.
