The Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) moored in the San Marco Basin seen from the Piazza San Marco at Venice, Italy

The Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) moored in the San Marco Basin seen from the Piazza San Marco at Venice, Italy. The photographer is looking east-south-east from the Piazza San Marco showing the Doge's Palace on the left and on the right is The Lion of Venice, an ancient bronze winged lion sculpture which surmounts a large granite column in the Square, thought to have been erected between 1172–1177. Alongside a pier in front of the Doge's Palace is the passenger ferry Eraclea (1935). The Orion (1935) is seen from off her port quarter and she is flying the Blue Peter, indicating that her passengers should return aboard as she is preparing to sail.
