The photographer is looking south-west from the Monte da Guia across the harbour and bay to the city and the fortress of O Castro on Castro Hill can be seen in the centre of the picture. At anchor on right is the Ellerman Line cruise ship City of Nagpur (1922), seen from ahead of her starboard beam. The negative is slightly out of focus.
