The photographer is on board a cruise ship anchored offshore and is looking south-by-east towards the passenger terminal building which is beyond the breakwater in the centre of the picture. Beyond the passenger terminal are the bell towers of the cathedral of Santa Maria and on top of Castro Hill is the fortress of O Castro. On the left is the five storey Hotel Continental.
