Mermaid (1784)
Scale: 1:48. A plan showing the headrail, head and proposed figurehead possibly for Mermaid (1784), a 32-gun Fifth Rate frigate. While the drawing is undated and unidentified, a comparison with the figurehead on SLR0318, the model of HMS Mermaid (1784), shows a similar stylistic layout of a mermaid holding an urn and a scaled dolphin at her tail. The diffferences may indicate it is a proposed replacement.
A full-length figurehead of a mermaid looking right, holding an urn above her head in her left hand. Her right hand is holding the tail of a scaled dolphin which is wrapped along her tail.
