Unknown warship; Figurehead of a warrior.
Scale: 1:48. A plan showing the headrail, head and proposed figurehead for an unknown warship, possibly a frigate or small Third Rate judging by the number of head rails in the drawing.
The colour-washed figurehead is a male bust of a warrior facing forward. He is wearing a plumed helmet with cheek protectors. His square-necked plain ‘cuirass’ (breastplate) includes the short stiff leather ‘pteruges’ on the upper arms found in early Greek and Roman armour. Behind the bust are three standards with undefined flags and a sword, partially obscured by the scale plate armour below the bust.
