Unknown, possibly yachts; personifications of Strength, Hope and Justice

Scale: unknown. Plan showing the colour-washed sketches for three figureheads representing Strength, Hope and Justice for unknown ships. These attributes were usually connected to royalty and could feature on yachts to illustrate the theoretical qualities of good monarchy.

The middle full-length figurehead is a female personification of Hope. She is hold an anchor in her right hand, while her left hand is raised to head-height.

The right hand full-length figurehead is a female personification of Justice. She is blindfolded and holding a sword in her right hand with its blade resting on her shoulder. A set of scales is held aloft in her left hand.
