Amazon (1865)
Scale: 1:48. A plan showing the bow carve work for Amazon (1865), a 4-gun wooden screw sloop.
The carve work is two sets of scrolling stylised foliage with flowers, either side of the bowsprit. Behind the foliage on each side of the bows are near identical details of symbols of warfare: the inner items include spears and a flaming torch, in the centre is a standard with the flag partially draped under the scrollwork, and on the outer side is a cruciform sword.
Signed by Alexander Moore [Master Shipwright, Devonport Dockyard, 1865-?, although Acting Master Shipwright by December 1864]. The plan includes an Admiralty Letter Book number DM 7176-64.
