Jason (1859)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the bow, head, trail-board and figurehead for Jason (1859), a 21-gun (later 17) open battery ship-rigged wooden screw corvette.
The figurehead is a bust of a stylised bearded Greek warrior, depicting Jason, facing forward. He is wearing a large plumed helmet and a square-cut scale chainmail shirt with leather shoulder protection. The plan includes pencil annotations indicating the measurements for scaling up the figurehead.
Signed by W. Edye [Master Shipwright, Devonport, 1843-1859]. The plan includes an Admiralty Letter Book numbers S1919.
