Shearwater (1861)
Scale: 1:48. A plan showing the starboard quarter gallery, bow, headrail, head and figurehead for Shearwater (1861), an 11-gun screw sloop.
The figurehead is a three-quarter length bust of a female figure facing forwards. She is wearing a close-fitting bodice with a pleated skirt below the waist. Near the top of the trail-board, close to the lower cheek scroll is a shearwater bird in flight.
The quarter galleries have not been completed with any proposed ‘drop’ decoration between the windows.
Signed by Henry Cradock [Master Shipwright, Pembroke Dockyard, 1859-1864]. The plan includes Admiralty Letter Book numbers S1791 / 2106.
