Diadem (1856)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing a half stern-board, starboard quarter, and bow, headrail, head and proposed figurehead for Diadem (1856), a 32-gun, screw frigate.
The figurehead is a three-quarter length bust of a female facing forwards with a simple crown on her head, representing the diadem. She is wearing a dress with large open collars that finishes with a pleated front. A cloak cascades down her back and portly around the scrollwork at the top of the trail-board.
The date of the plan is uncertain, as it has letter references dated 1855 and 1860. The plan includes Admiralty Letter Book numbers S3530-55 / 4163 / 1295-60.
DIC0116 and DIC0114 are part of the same plan, having been separated sometime in the past.
