Pioneer (1856)
Scale: 1:48. A plan showing a half stern-board, starboard quarter, and bow, headrail, head and proposed figurehead for Pioneer (1856), a 5-gun Despatch Vessel, later classed as a First Rate Gunvessel.
The figurehead is a half-length bust of pioneer soldier facing forwards. He is wearing short fur hat and belt across the chest of is uniform jacket. There are no carving details proposed for the ‘drops’ between the stern board and starboard quarter gallery windows. The plan includes the measurements for the head.
Signed by Oliver Lang [Master Shipwright, Pembroke Dockyard, 1853-189]. The plan includes Admiralty Letter Book numbers S4517 / 4607.
