Inflexible (1845)

Scale: 1:48. Plan showing three view: the starboard side stern board outline, starboard quarter galleries, and the bow, head, trail-board and figurehead for Inflexible (1845), a 6-gun wooden First Class paddle sloop. This is a Devonport copy sent to the Admiralty for approval.

The colour-washed figurehead is a bust of a bearded sailor wearing a short blue jacket, white shirt and black silk, and brimmed sennet (straw) hat. The trail-board has no carvings proposed. Cornucopia have been drawn in pencil between the windows of the stern windows and the quarter galleries.

Signed by W. Edye [Master Shipwright, Devonport, 1843-1859]. The plan includes an Admiralty Letter Book numbers S1278 / 1476. This figurehead was approved by William Symonds, Surveyor of the Navy (1832-1848).
