Four manual lifeboats being towed away from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) which is at anchor in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. They are manned by members of the crew and are being towed in line astern by one of the ship's motor lifeboats. They all have their oars tossed. The photographer is on board the Orion looking down and forward from the port side of the poop rail showing the accommodation ladder rigged to main deck level and the boats moving away. Competitive rowing regattas were commonplace in cruise ships at boating ports and other sheltered moorings. Negatives numbers P84445 to P84462 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
