Launching the starboard side lifeboats on the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) in an unknown location.
Launching the starboard side lifeboats on the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) in an unknown location. The ship is presumably at anchor and the photographer is looking aft from the starboard bridge wing. This appears to be a boat drill and the boats are all manned by the ship's crew with no passengers being involved. Number 1 seaboat is in the foreground and numbers 3 and 5 lifeboats have their mast stepped. Boats 9A, 11A and 15A have been swung out above boats 9, 11 and 15 but have not yet been manned. A vertical format negative. Negatives numbers P84466 to P84468 inclusive, P84476, P84477 and P84492 were taken on the same occasion.
