A port near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) moored in Bighi Bay, Grand Harbour, Malta. Lifeboats 8A and 10A have been swung out and lowered to boat deck level and four of her lifeboats are alongside the accommodation ladder rigged aft. The photographer is looking east-south-east from above Quarry Wharf in Valletta showing Fort Ricasoli on the left, the Bighi royal Naval Hopsital on the right and four lattice radio masts at Rinella in the centre background.
