A slightly distant starboard bow view of the Orient Line cruise ship Otranto (1925) at anchor in a French Mediterranean location. Her port anchor is deployed and she has an accommodation ladder rigged aft. Lifeboat 17 has been launched and seaboat 3 has been swung out and lowered to boat deck level. She has the French flag at her foremast head and the Blue Peter is flying from the bridge signal halyard. In the right background and seen from ahead of her starboard beam is the French Navy battleship Jean Bart (1911). She has been modernized with a trunked funnel and a tripod mast forward and she has three bands on her 2nd funnel. She is emitting a fair amount of smoke. The negative is slightly out of focus.
