A starboard bow view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) at anchor in an unknown location.
A starboard bow view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) at anchor in an unknown location. She has an accommodation ladder rigged to her main deck aft and her starboard anchor is deployed. She is flying an anchor ball daymark from her forestay. The top of her foremast and the extreme tip of her stem are out of the picture. The horizon is not level and the negative is slightly out of focus. The negative is captioned "At Malta" but this is very much in doubt. Cruise ships visiting Malta always moored to buoys in Grand Harbour, Valletta, but this negative shows the ship at anchor with absolutely nothing near her and no obviously visible background. It is probable that the background is hidden by heavy mist and could be mountainous.
