A slightly distant port bow view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) at anchor in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. She has both anchors deployed and an accommodation ladder is rigged aft. A number of the ship's lifeboats have been launched. Two of her boats, manned by passengers with each boat under the supervision of two crew members, are under oars in the foreground at the finish of a race. A large number of the ship's crew and passengers are lining the forecastle rails and the front rails of the superstructure to watch the racing. There are patches of snow of the mountains in the background. The negative has a small hole near the bottom left corner.
